Earth Glide Fishing Charters

This is an alternative trip into Florida's back country for some of the state's finest game fish to be caught using light tackle and fly fishing gear. We quietly stalk the shallow flats looking for the signs of fish. Usually it's the tail or tails of redfish breaking the water's surface as the fish grub the bottom in search of food. Black drum also frequent the area and feed in the same manner. Both are an exceptional fine fly fishing target. Spotted sea trout live here, too. We usually find them in the deeper sand depressions and drop-offs from the grass flats. During the warmer months, snook and tarpon can be found roaming the area. This unique area also is home to a fabulous variety of plants and wildlife. Traversing these waters by canoe is a spectacular way to view and photograph the marine life, birds and surrounding environment. Much of the area still remains the same as it was during the time when the Timucuan and Ais indians lived here more than 7,000 years ago. About 40 minutes east of Orlando, this aquatic biome is part of the Canaveral National Seashore, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and surrounds Kennedy Space Center. Capt. John's primary working tool is a 18 1/2-foot Mad River Canoe, but also he works out of a 16-foot skiff designed by the Hells Bay Boat Co. for extremely shallow water. All equipment, tackle and licenses are provided on trips as well as lunch and drinks. Dress light during the warmer months and dress in layers during cooler periods.
